Natural Flax (linen)
This handspun is roughly fingering weight, and its spun 2ply. It is spun out of natural, water retted flax that I had in my stash from Louet. The fibre is from Belgium. Its stiff, as bast fibres are, but with washing and wearing, it'll settle down into beautifully soft and drapey fabric. To soften it before you use it, try wetting it and then whacking it against something solid like an exterior wall, large smooth rock or railing a bunch of times, working your way around the skein so all the parts of it get worked. This is called 'thwacking'!
